Caregiver and Advocate for DMD
Cambridge, Ontario, Canada
Joshua Cavalier is a Canadian father of two sons, Kaleb and Liam, both affected by Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Since their sons’ diagnosis in 2012, Joshua and his wife Amy became caregivers and advocates for DMD. Amy identified the need for a platform for families in Canada to connect and share with other families affected by DMD, and created the Facebook page; Duchenne Canadian Connection in 2014.
The Cavalier family has shared their story to promote awareness and campaign for a cure, taking part in fundraising events as speakers, as well as host family. They have shared their story as part of a documentary, as well as in the media, speaking on radio and on television news.
