Dr. Hoda Abdel Hamid is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. She is also the Director of the pediatric neuromuscular program and the pediatric EMG laboratory as well as the pediatric MDA clinic at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC.

She evaluates patients with neuromuscular symptoms, performs neurophysiologic studies, and follows all patients with pediatric neuromuscular disease in a multi-disciplinary setting through the MDA clinic that is located at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. She also serves on the executive committee of NeuroNext which organizes collaborative studies to test new therapies for various neurologic diseases.

Dr. Hamid is involved in many therapeutic biomedical trials for Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Her core interest lies in research related to Duchenne muscular dystrophy, Spinal Muscular Atrophy, neuromuscular disease in children including outcome measures, new therapeutic interventions, and genetic therapies.
