Dr. Jan Verschuuren is a Professor of Neuromuscular Disease and Head of Neuromuscular Section at the Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC). He is the clinical representative for the LUMC in TREAT-NMD. Jan is chair of the TREAT-NMD Global Database Oversight Committee (TGDOC) too.

In his clinical work, he is seeing patients with a broad range of neuromuscular disorders. He is also the president of the Dutch Neuromuscular Centre.

Dr. Verschuuren’s main research topics include Duchenne and Becker muscular dystrophy, myasthenia gravis, inclusion body myositis, MRI of muscle and brain in patients with neuromuscular disorders, and Lambert-Eaton myasthenic syndrome.
